Fuel Theft
« on: April 22, 2018, 04:51:32 PM »
All those who are based at CYND should take precautions. This is the third time that someone has siphoned about 80 liters of fuel from my Piper. Surveillance cameras do not cover the tiedown area and thus offers an attractive area for thieves. I will be moving to CYRP at the end of my tiedown rental where I am sure that this won't happen. I live in Rockland and Carp is only 8 km further from here. I am sick and tired of subsidizing some low life's fuel cost.

Hans,

Have you spoken to the Airport Manager about this concern?  Im sure they would not let this go un-noticed.

If I see this happeneing, I will setup a motion triggered night vision camera to catch theses thiefs.

I had talked to the airport personnel on a previous occasion and was greeted with a shrug, saying that they don't have night patrols and there is no camera in that area and that they themselves have been victims from thugs steeling fuel out of their truck. I talked to other owners to see if they had experienced any problems , but it seems that I am singled out. Is it because I use 91 octane mogas?  Any other reason?

I have put in a word with the Airport Manager about your issue. You hopefully will hear back from them sometime soon.
