Very loud jet over Orleans evening of Oct. 1?
« on: October 01, 2015, 10:11:07 PM »
Does anyone know what was flying around over eastern Ottawa / Orleans about 7:30 tonight (Thursday Oct. 1)?  It sounded like an unusually loud jet of some sort.  The sound grew extremely loud, then faded away very quickly after each pass, which leads me to think that the aircraft was either moving very fast, or making sharp turns which caused the noise levels to drop off.  I was not able to see the aircraft, and I've never heard anything like it before.

A short time after the jet noises, I heard two transmissions of "X-Ray Bravo Golf Alouette-25" on 135.15 (Ottawa Arrivals) in connection with references to changes in altitude, with the last transmission (about 7:45) seemingly referring to a change from "4000 to flight level 208."  I'm not sure if this is related to the aircraft I heard earlier, however, the callsign and altitude changes seemed rather unusual to me.  I wasn't able to hear the any responses to the transmissions on my handheld scanner, but I don't usually get very good reception from CYOW so this isn't surprising.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Thanks!  Wish I'd seen it!  So I guess whatever I heard on the radio was something else.
