Yes, I did fly with Kim, and although John S and I worked there at the same time, we never actually did fly together while at SGL. We did however all work together at RFC along with other SGLers like Owen, Pete, Andrew, Maliha... Am I missing someone?

I would like to comment that ever since Peter Carscallen and now , in particular , Chris Kiff , have joined this group , the legitimacy and professionalism of this web site has risen by 1000% !
You gentlemen are true Professional Pilots and bring considerable expertize and experience on board . Your reputations as RFC Instructors and Airline Pilots are A1 and now that you have joined Tony Hunt & P Pen , the level of intelligence expressed on this board is now finally professional .
As many originals know , I had my doubts about the originators & thier motives , when this web site first opened  . That has been erased with the inclusion of these fine Pilots .
i plan on tuning in more often . Iève learned a lot in the last few days from just listening to Chris and I wish I could fly with him as a student !
Come fly me !

This is the intent of this website. Be professional, as well as friendly. I and my moderators/Admins will not tolorate any abuse.

I am not new to discussion and am the owner of the biggest Motorcycle community forum in Ottawa and probebly eatern Canada.

So yes I am devoted to this, just like I am of the other one going on 7 years now on August 3rd.

And I'd like to applaud and thank Nelson for putting together, and maintaining this forum. I know it's not easy to start up a forum and attract people when it's just starting out. I think it's great to have a local aviation discussion forum, and although I don't fly locally anymore, I still live in Ottawa and am quite familiar with the local rules, issues, and I've done a considerable amount of flying around Ottawa.

I used to frequent AvCanada, and I am in fact a moderator over there, however I haven't actually gone to that forum for some time just because it was getting silly. As a moderator it was too much to comb through and I was getting bombarded with PMs asking to get rid of this and that where someone didn't really have a valid reason to actually edit or delete a post. I got tired of the forum. But this one is a good size and is starting to have a good cross section of people from students, pilots and professionals. I think it's important to include all views.

I admittedly stir the pot from time to time, but it's to provoke interesting and productive discussion. I have to admit though that the main reason for my joining was to "correct" misinformation being distributed as fact from people who aren't necessarily qualified to be giving this information. It's one thing to give one's opinion, and I encourage it, but it really bothers me when people "teach" facts that are wrong. Likewise I wouldn't go and tell people how jets are flown, I have never flown one and am not qualified to give any information. However I can give you my opinion that jets are often boring to fly!

Anyways, I digress... Thank you Nelson for creating a place for us to get "together", and discuss issues, opinions and distribute information! I hope more local Ottawa pilots get on board.

That place makes my eyes bleed, it's so painful to read.  It's about 95% negativity!

I actually like it here because it's less professional maybe (since it's regional, and therefore maybe more for the students/private flyers?), and therefore attracts less of the jaded crowd?

Anyways, for sure, great idea Nelson had putting this board up!  I'm sure glad it's here :)

I am looking forward to watching the site grow and being able to add my 2 cents worth.  I really feel that the site has the potential to stay legitimate (rants can go in another section) and be a great place for people to come and get information that is both relevant and correct.

Moon thank you for your kind comments.

I try to make sure the things I say are right and written in a semi-pro manner.  I'll be honest that when I don't know the full answer but want to add something to the discussion I do some research first.  The internet is a great tool and full of information and for a topic such as aviation we pilots, student pilot, etc have online access to all of our rules and regulations.

I have to agree that it is great to have guys like Pigpen, Tony, Pete & Chris to keep us ducks in line.  Although a forum needs to be friendly while having a sense of humor as well to make it interesting.  Remember that members on this site or of all walks of life.

thanks to all for the nice comments, and like the other bog forum I own Ott-Motorcycles.ca, even though I have changed my pation from Motorcycles to Airplanes, that still does not stop me from managing the site. I have greate moderators and with Uberchukie as Co-Admin, it really helps as he's home doing nothing... LOL  I had to put this in Charles ! :lol_hitting:

Congrats to the yow aviator community. This was long overdue. I am also an ex RFC instructor/CFI from the 90s decade and long time yow aviator dating back to the 70s. Although I am now based in yyz I still live here and would never even consider living somewhere else. Cheers.
